Would have been nice if BT asked before enabling stuff?

Seems that BT (@BTCare) have decided to take it upon themselves to “help” BT Total Broadband users when they mistype a URL by offering up some sponsored links from Yahoo.

Glad to see that these are really relevant and targeted to the domain you were looking for!

Unless you like this service, I’d suggest disabling it – but how..? Nice obvious opt-out link; not!

Click “Preferences”

“BT Web Address Help suggests relevant, helpful search results…” hmmm

Ensure “disable” is selected and click “save settings”.

Wonder what else is in store? Perhaps having another go at quietly introducing “Phorm” for a “personalised internet experience”?
